My 22 yr old son is on psychosis

I am exhausted, overwhelmed, angry, sad. My perfect, smart, kind son is on an involuntary hold on a mental health facility. This all started a year ago. And has progressively gotten worse. Last week it peaked and he thought that our neighbor was out to get him and kill him and that they had followed him 40 minutes away to his dad's house. He left his dad's house around 1:00 in the morning on foot no one could find him. His dad finally called the police and the police said they had him. That he had called the police and said someone was after him to kill him so they took him to the hospital. And the hospital put him on an involuntary hold and transferred him to a mental behavioral facility. And all I can think about is the future that is being taken away from him and how he may never be able to live on his own how I always have to care for him which I will I love him. But it's so overwhelming. And I'm not sure yet of the diagnosis right now they're saying bipolar type 1 with psychosis but the psychiatrist didn't have all the information until I talk to them Friday so that diagnosis may change to schizophrenia. And I'm scared I don't even know what to expect
