Hello everyone, I have a question about hiking in Romania.

Me and my friends are planning a short trip to Brașov around late October (20–30), and we were thinking about hiking Mount Omu. I’ve read mixed opinions about it, some say it’s fine if the weather is good, others say it is risky outside of summer.

We’re not experienced mountaineers, but we would come prepared with proper hiking boots, warm layered clothing, headlamps, etc, but not with climbing gear. Still, we’re unsure if it’s a good idea, but we would certainly want to do it.

Would you recommend attempting Omu in late October if conditions allow, or is it better to wait for next summer? Or should we stick to lower-altitude hikes around Brașov instead?
