Tremolo help
Hi,
I have a new guitar, probably around 3/4 weeks old. Its not my first or only Jazzmaster, but this is the first time I've encountered an issue like this.
So, the trem arm has probably been popped in and out around 3 times until the other night: to mess with it for two seconds post-unboxing, and then putting it in properly the first time, which was an in-out-in job.
Then for some reason two nights ago I took it out, I honestly don't even know why. I noticed that it didn't click back in, but thought nothing of it. Then when I was playing last night I noticed that it was much looser than usual, swining around like mad, and that there was buzzing coming from it.
I was going to change strings anyway, so I took off the cavity. The washer that holds it in had come loose, and the arm sank while I was doing so; but it also looks like maybe the arm no longer fits properly in the collet -- I can't get it to "click" in, and it will fall out if I move the arm.
Does anybody have any experience with this, or any ideas how to go about fixing it?
I don't really have the option of taking to someone for repair at the moment.
