i'm trying to write something for voice and piano similar to that of berg or pre-atonal schoenberg but i have absolutely no idea how to get very far - i've tried to listen to them a lot the past few months and look at their scores but i feel like it's impossible to write something that sounds "decent" in terms of atonality with a lack of structure. is there more structure to "free atonality" then i think there is? how can i come up with chords and accompaniment easier?
