Star Trek: Prodigy has found a new Streaming Home, atleast in India, and Season 2 for now, on JioHotstar.
For those, who don't know what happened a couple of weeks ago, here's something to notice upon.
After 5 months, since its removal from Netflix, for everyone to not getting legal access on any streaming service, Star Trek: Prodigy is now available and is accessible on India's (which is the country where I'm from) Leading Streaming Platform, JioHotstar.
For those who don't know about JioHotstar, it's an Indian Streaming Service, which was formerly referred to as Disney+ Hotstar, until 2025, when Reliance Industries, owned by Multi-billionaire Mukesh Ambani, acquired Disney Star and merged their operations with their Entertainment Network Viacom18 (which Paramount had the stake on this Joint Venture, until sold their stakes back to Reliance) in 2024, to form JioStar. As a result, merged Disney+ Hotstar with Viacom18's JioCinema to form the streaming service, JioHotstar, as we know.
They have many streaming services, originated from US, as premium Hubs, like Disney+, HBO Max, Peacock and of course, Paramount+
Though Paramount sold their stakes in Viacom18 JV to Reliance, they still license their content and brands to them, even after JioStar is formed.
As Star Trek: Prodigy have exited Netflix, fans across the globe were uncertain about the legal streaming access to the series. Until it's been saved from total obscurity by a major streaming service on World's Most Populous Country, for that specific region only.
But there's a catch. They released Season 2 of ST: Prodigy. Though we do hope that Season 1 would drop soon there.
And ST: Prodigy is currently the Third Star Trek series to be available on JioHotstar, as Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and ST: Discovery are already on JioHotstar. SNW is being streamed there in 3 Languages alongside English (i.e. Hindi, Tamil and Kannada), and ST: Discovery went to the service after the output deal with Amazon Prime Video in the region for the series ended.
For Trekkies living in India, the Star Trek Content have scattered around Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and JioHotstar from the get-go.
And JioHotstar dropped Star Trek: Prodigy S2 at a time, when India's Biggest T20 Cricket Spectacle, the 19th Edition of Indian Premier League (India's Equivalent to the Super Bowl, but for longer duration), which they own the Streaming Rights as well, is ongoing. So, they are bolstering their Subscribers by adding ST: Prodigy S2.
So, Star Trek: Prodigy, despite got cancelled, isn't going extinct after all, atleast in India, where most of the Beautiful CGI Animations in it were done.
