10 months post-op - Pain is still worse than pre-op
Hey all! In December of 2025, I had my first labral repair done on my right hip. In June of 2026 I had my left hip done. My left hip feels amazing! My right hip, not so much.
I had my 12-week follow-up on my left hip about a month ago and expressed that my right hip was still was hurting. My surgeon wasn't worried at all, saying that was normal and my right hip was likely overcompensating. Personally, I felt like my left hip was already doing the lion's share of the work again, even only three months out, but my surgeon cited some studies and I took his word for it. He said that in 3 more months if there was still pain to call and they'd set me up with some PT again or something.
Since that visit a month ago, I've tried to get more back to normal - going for more walks, I even jogged for a couple minutes the other day. However, as my activity has increased, so has the pain in my right hip, to the point where it hurts to sit, walk, and forget about any internal or external rotation. In short: my right hip hurts a lot, and it's increasing as time goes on. At this point, it's much worse than my pre-op pain was. One of my friends thinks that I should call my doctor, but I'm thinking I should wait a couple more months so that they take it more seriously I guess? I should also say that I haven't been as forceful in my appointments as I could've been. I've just tried to follow their guidelines and be optimistic. I'm a college-aged female, for reference.
Anyways, at what point do I go ahead and call his office with my concerns?
