Is transferring as a second year Civil Eng major worth it?

Im currently a sophomore at Stony Brook University with a 3.84 established GPA. I applied for transfer to Cornell and CMU kind of as a whim, but actually got in.

If I transfer to CMU im told I'd be accepted as a Sophomore, but the exact details of my transfer aren't finalized, so im not sure what I'd have to retake.

I also dont really qualify for aid, my parents make a decent bit of money but dont manage it well, so I'd be on my own when it comes to paying for school other than loans. Based on the financial aid calculator, my cost of attendance would be 50k.

From current or former CMU students, especially those who know about the Civil Engineering department, do you think my transferring and probably paying 150k for three years is worth it (I want to pursue structural engineering and work at a cool architectural-engineering firm like Arup or SOM), or is staying at SBU better?

(Basically, is the faculty, student life, connections, and curriculum worth 150k for a civil engineering degree at CMU or is staying smarter)
