Is "unlimited" Japan eSIM actually unlimited enough for 2 weeks?
Heading to Japan for the first time and I'm trying to pick a eSIM, but the word "unlimited" is making this more confusing, not less.
Staying there for 14 days: Tokyo most of the time, then Osaka for a few days. I do the normal maps/train stuff, but I also watch a lot of Tik Tok/YouTube at night and might hotspot my laptop for emails if hotel WiFi is bad. Phone is an unlocked iPhone 15.
Some plans say unlimited, then the fine print sounds like 3GB/day or gets throttled after heavy use. I don't need crazy speed, I just don't want day
8 to become 0.5 Mbps.
For Japan, is it worth caring about au/KDDI/native network vs generic roaming? Or is that mostly marketing unless you're doing heavy hotspot?
what did u use there, and did it still feel okay in the second week?
Trying not to overspend if the cheaper options are basically the same experience. Would love recommendations from people who were there recently — mainly deciding between Airalo, Ubigi, Holafly, and Sakura Mobile right now.
