Has anyone developed a double chin or jaw swelling on Accutane?
Hi everyone,
I’ve been taking Accutane (10 mg per day) for the past 6 months.
About 3 months ago, I had a mild cold and around the same time I noticed that the area under my jaw seemed swollen, almost as if my lymph nodes were enlarged. It also gave me the appearance of a double chin. At first, I assumed it was related to the cold, but it never went away.
Since then, my cheeks seem a bit fuller, my jawline is much less defined, and I have a noticeable double chin that I’m not used to having (except during my pregnancies).
I’ve often read that some people experience facial swelling while taking Accutane, but my symptoms don’t seem to match the typical descriptions.
Has anyone here experienced similar symptoms while on Accutane? If so, did they eventually go away, either during treatment or after stopping the medication?
For context, I’m 40 years old and still have a few extra pounds left from my pregnancies, but I don’t think that alone explains the visible double chin. Of course, skin changes with age, but such a significant change in a relatively short period of time is hard for me to explain.
Other than that, I feel very healthy and fit.
