I based in Asia and have been on DA for over 2 months. I've used VPN since the first day till now, but I've seen many people said that using VPN would be cooked. Should I turn it off?

To access a new specific project, I was required to pass a background check via Checkr, but I'm not in the US and no SSN, and I've tried contacting the team 3 times but got no response at all.
