Needing reassurance for hysterectomy!
I’m looking at a hysterectomy (ovaries kept) as an inevitability, after having tried non-surgical methods and adopting an anti-inflammatory diet for over a year. I am on Mirena, which has stopped the bleeding but not the inflammation, pressure, and pain, as well as the 3mo pregnant look at all times. I’m currently waiting on a consult with a surgeon who does laparoscopic, and since I’m in Alberta, Canada, it might be a little while. I have an OB, but she only does the surgical hysterectomy and I don't want to do that unless necessary.
I’m very physically active; I teach spin, Pilates, and a strength class and work out 5 days a week (1-2 hours each workout). I eat very healthily; I was already dairy-free before adopting an anti-inflammatory diet. But I’m terrified about the hysterectomy leading to weight gain. Adenomyosis has already taken so much from my self-confidence and love for my own body. I know there’s no way to predict what will happen because everyone’s experience is different, but I could really do with some reassurance on this.
Thank you so much for any advice or reassurance you can provide!
