Hi guys! Incoming D1 here! I came across this company called Juno and actually had multiple one-on-one meetings with them and attended most of their webinars. I am exploring different options for private student loans, and I think Juno sounds like the best one so far.

Basically, what they do is negotiate with lenders on behalf of group students. They go to specific lenders they already partner with and say for example, “We have a large group of dental students interested in loans,” and essentially use that bargaining power to try to get better rates and loan terms than what you’d usually get applying individually.

Their goal is to essentially offer loans with interest rates equivalent or ideally lower than federal loans (if your credit score isn’t too low and you haven’t had any delinquencies or defaults for example). The loans are also designed in a way where you won’t really need a cosigner to get approval as long as your FICO score is above ~720 (They use something like the dental student’s ‘future’ earnings to get the student approved). They may also help you find offers like residency deferment options if that’s what you’re interested in.

From what they explained, they make money from the lenders if a student takes out a loan through them, not from the students, and every service they provide to students is completely free.

I specifically asked whether lenders add any hidden fees or to compensate for paying Juno, and they told me there are no hidden fees added to the student’s loan.

They also said, if students find someone else outside of juno with a better option, they can bring it back to us and the lenders will match it, and will also give them 1% cash back.
