MSW Career insights, Melbourne
Hello, I am a current MSW student based in Melbourne. I'm making a career pivot into social work (from an unrelated field) and really would love to work in a school or university in student wellbeing. I'm also open to clinical roles in youth mental health and the justice system. I have no idea how the job market is at the moment and trying to gauge if this is viable in Melbourne or if most people need to relocate regionally to get a foot in the door. I haven't been able to get a placement in Melbourne so I need to relocate for that, which is very costly. I am in the first year of my degree. Genuinely concerned about my job prospects and considering doing a teaching degree so I can get a role after graduating as I don't want to relocate from Melbourne. Any advice and insight would be super helpful, thank you!
