what are the small square caps on the street, that can feel like mini potholes?

One may have said gas. There seems a few different sizes or types.

they make biking harder for me, with being not easy to see, at least when riding - but still deep enough for a significant bump. More difficult and maybe deeper than the typical big round metal caps

I noticed them increasing, in lower Manhattan at least? But I didn't understand if there's patterns to them, that could help me understand when to be more aware of them?

Are they risky, or causing bike issues?

was anyone here a student before and after? or know anyone who was?

I'm wondering if the last time the college was saved, what changes happened for the quality of the college?

some people's perspectives made it sound like the college was saved in some ways, but declined in others? or that most recently, some of the quality of life seemed not good?

for students that started after, did it feel like things were going well, just with less staff? did it feel like protests just happened, and wanted to save the college without improving important the day to day parts? Did closing alarm people to donate, but more gradual issues didn't get similar sympathy?

i don't mean it should be luxury, but people who I heard talk about wanting to save it, I didn't hear talk about the disrepair in buildings that others talked about

i guess from my experiences in general with struggling material quality of life, I was worried and unclear about what this was like at the college

Awhile ago I looked at some media about the protests, but didn't see questions like these covered. Though I could've missed it, happy to read/watch if anyone has a link

(To be clear I want Hampshire to not close, I just was confused about these aspects)

I hadn't found a school that seemed very like Hamp, so I am lost. Some schools had similar reputation, but when I looked at details of requirements, and talked to staff/students, Hamp seemed much more accessible and supportive and less stressful. Was that your experience too?

I wonder what y'all are thinking for paths that may have some of what Hamp had? Or what you eventually think, if it's too early to say now
