Fun fact: Wildwood's Russian title «Ведьмин лес» translates to "The Witch's Forest"

I think it airs in December over there.

Wildwood Trailer AMV to the song "Save Yourself" by My Darkest Days

I had to edit around the song audio a bit for this.

Tomorrow tickets will drop for Wildwood. Be sure to do lots of googling to make sure if your local theater has it. Look at the Fathom Wildwood page's list of regular air dates (and fan screening dates), look up your local theater and check the site, and look up the movie in your location.

Searching Google while allowing location shows me there's at least 6 theaters already in a driving distance or right around the corner that have it. If you can afford to drive in person to check, be sure to look and see if they got a poster of it along the upcoming film lineups.

Don't think it'll be totally sold out by tomorrow so hopefully a lot of night showings available.

Wildwood final trailer AMV ideas

I thought about making an edit of different songs to Wildwood's final trailer. My main idea was Take Me To Church covered by Sofia Karlberg.

Other song I could edit it to: Save Yourself by My Darkest Days. These songs really hit that epic trailer music vibe even if the lyrics don't really necessarily fit the themes sort of.

maybe I could even edit "dance magic" from Labyrinth to it?

To those outside the Americas (including Latin America) and Europe who want to see Laika's Wildwood

You should contact your local theater chains about the movie. Stress the importance of Laika's previous works and why this film should be allowed to play at your local theater.

If they get back to you and say it isn’t available, they will also probably follow up with how there needs to be more of a demand for the film and they need to be able to contact a distributor. I am not familiar with international distributions and how exactly this part goes about, but I do believe that at least enough amount of people need to make a demand for the film to air in their countries (especially in East & Southeast Asia) in order for it to reach local theaters.

Regal Cinemas lists upcoming options for Wildwood early fan screenings and open sub/captions in English for those who may need it

I'm on the fence. Tickets for the early screening will probably release on the same day the regular advance tickets do. I kind of want to go to an early screening, because I went to one for the Sheep Detectives and had a fun time, but on the other hand, I promised to take my sister with me to a opening weekend viewing :/ I also don't want to splurge too much money because I'm saving up for a con and movie tickets already cost like 15$ for Fathom distributed films.

If this is an option at your local Regal, would you go see an early viewing or wait for opening day/weekend?

and no it isn’t a leak. it has the correct info and RPX early screenings are common. they did it with forgotten island too.

edit: not a Regal only thing, there's a listing on cinemark for early screenings but so far only lists NJ as one of the states with a offer in cinemark for that

Why Wildwood will do better than Laika's previous films in the box office but not as good as Coraline

Fathom Entertainment is good at distributing films in re-release or limited theatrical, but this is their first regular theatrical release of an animated feature film above the usual hour mark. It's not going to fail, but it won't be a worldwide smash like Coraline was unless Fathom can manage to make good deals with international distributors and can land in more than just a select few countries in the Americas and Europe.

The AI slop content farmers are now making fake trailers / teasers for the movie. Usually they're pretty easy to find but if you look up "Wildwood" on youtube and filter to see recent from this week, month, etc you'll stumbled into at least one thumbnail of total AI slop.

My favorite is the one where it's her running from a crow and it's so obviously AI generated. Another is basically a bad attempt to AI generate the book cover in CGI form with some random cat added in the front.

no screenshot because no one deserves to see that garbage lol

Concerns for Wildwood's availability in theaters

I had asked an employee of a theater I frequent (due to it being only 6 minute drive away from home) if Wildwood was in their upcoming films list. They said they swapped out the showing on October 23rd for the new Shaun the Sheep film. This made me cautious, hoping that at least the other 3 theaters near my home (albeit, a slightly longer drive) would have at least acquired it.

This makes me a bit scared for how it's going internationally though. It seems to have little to no buzz for other countries besides a few in Europe (including the film festivals) and Latin America. It was a shock to me that it even is getting an earlier theatrical release in the Philippines (Oct 21st) and Singapore (Oct 22nd). However, the Philippines and Singapore are just 2 of the many countries in Southeast Asia, let alone the entire continent of Asia.

I have checked the theater chains of other countries, and well… I hope that on September 16th, we see more theaters worldwide picking up this film. If it should make more than half its budget, it should at least make a good hit in both the USA and internationally. It still shocks me to this day when I learn more about how Kubo & Missing Link had released in countries outside the USA, Latin America and Europe, given how much of box office failures they had been.

I hope that September 16th sees a LOT of ticket sales for Wildwood, and hopefully no ticket scalpers who just wanna bid and sell them at ridiculously high prices. And hopefully the AI slop videos being generated using models from the trailer will end.

Wildwood runtime is 2 hours and 12 minutes according to BFI London Film Festival

https://preview.redd.it/5ftnhgvwe3oh1.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7eb3eca86225baafc5b12f117e166f260f4772fe

So is the extra 8 minutes just BTS then prior to film or after? Because I trust BFI more than a Twitter post. They HAVE a copy of the movie sent to them before tickets go for sale, to prepare for the film festival screenings. I doubt Travis, the way he is, would let them edit the film and trim 8 minutes.

here's the link to the film festivals page for it in case you need to see for yourself: https://whatson.bfi.org.uk/lff/Online/default.asp?BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::permalink=wildwood-lff26 (if on mobile, copy paste and open new tab if link appears as plain text)

When do you think tickets for Wildwood will be up for sale?

I know Fathom releases kind of sell tickets earlier in advance compared to standard distributors. They did it with a few other animated films they’ve released or re-released in theaters – mainly the whole Ghibli event thing where tickets were released at the end of a month, right between the month in advance and the month the film would be in theaters.

But since this is a Laika film and the trailer dropped a week ago, when exactly should I expect to see any ticket sales for theaters in my area (near Pennsylvania & Jersey)? I predict maybe around this week but it could also be the next or just some day in September generally speaking. It’s kind of hard to tell.

What’s your predictions for the exact day tickets will drop? Do you think it might be the last week of August or in early September? I am pretty optimistic about this movie. The only film I feel like spending money to see in theaters for the latter half of this year.
