I'm about to start a position at CERN and just received my French long-stay visa.

The issue: my flight itinerary (Brazil → Lisbon → Geneva) has me landing in the Schengen area on 30/08, and my contract and visa start date is 01/09.

I'm a Brazilian citizen, so I'm visa-exempt for short stays (tourism) in Schengen anyway.

Has anyone here been in a similar situation — arriving before their D-visa/DIPLO-SERVICE validity start date? ADid border control at your first Schengen entry point cause any issues seeing a visa in your passport that wasn't valid yet, even though you were technically entering visa-exempt?

Hi everyone. In June 16th I uploaded my Home Institution Declaration and a copy of my passport at the edh, as requested. Since then, my pre registration is still in approval ("With TECH-ADMIN Recruitment Service awaiting approval") and I have not heard anything from anyone yet. Should I be worried?

Hi guys, me again asking for details to make my life easier when I start my contract. I was looking at some bank account options for who's living in the French side. Seems like UBS is more common, but also lot of people complain because of the charges. I need to transfer my CHF to Wise and then convert it to EUR. Looks like Ibani is better related to the charges, but I don't know how much can I trust it.

Also, I was taking a look at some internet plans and I was between Free and Red by SFR.

What do you guys think?

Hi, guys. I was selected at the technical studentship 2026-2 (IT). I received an email on thursday to upload some documents, such as the Home Institution Declaration. Also, they told me my supervisor would get in touch with me soon, but still haven't heard from him.

The problem is I have been worried about all the documentation and visa process (french), because I need the contract information from my supervisor to fill in the necessary documents. I wanted to know from you, please:

1. What happens if the visa process does not finish before the contract start date?
2. The supervisor is necessarily the one person who called you for an interview? If so, should I contact him to ask the details I need?
