Kia Seltos 2019 7DCT Actuator failures
Just for your information, when this part fails, the vehicle can only crawl forward at a very low speed like a snail, and reverse gear stops working completely.
This is the third time I’ve had to replace the clutch actuator worm gear, and it seriously raises concerns about the quality and durability of the spare parts, especially when they barely last a year. Even during the extended warranty period, this part was replaced, but I was never informed that the complete assembly — costing nearly ₹80,000 — should ideally have been replaced. Had the full assembly been changed while the vehicle was under warranty, perhaps this recurring issue wouldn’t keep happening.
Instead, every year I’m forced to spend around ₹12,000 again (₹8,000 for the actuator and another ₹3,000–₹4,000 for labour) just to replace the same worm gear repeatedly. This assembly clearly deserves a proper recall or permanent solution.
What’s even more disappointing is that I replaced this exact part just a year ago, and it has failed again despite my usage being very limited. The car has run only around 35,000 km since 2019. Knowing that the complete assembly likely needed replacement during warranty, but only a temporary fix was done instead, really affects customer trust.
Now that the vehicle is out of warranty, customers are expected to keep spending on repeated repairs for the very same issue. Incidents like these will definitely make people think twice before choosing Kia in the future, especially when such failures can leave you stranded on the road and spare parts are often unavailable. In fact, this issue completely ruined my vacation last year — the failure happened while we were on our journey, forcing us to turn back midway and struggle to arrange the required parts.
