This happened almost 2 months ago but I want to talk about it. I was pregnant and on march 1st I had some spotting so I went to the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre emergency room. The triage nurse was very rude to me she said I was over reacting over spotting and she said it happens to a lot of people. I had a blood test, a urine test, a cervical exam and a low grade portable ultrasound since they didn’t have regular ultrasounds on the weekend. I was sent home saying my baby was healthy and if I had spotting again to come back. I had spotting again march 23rd so I went back to the hospital and they made me do a blood and urine test again. While I was in the waiting room I overheard they lost an elderly patients urine test. When I was finally placed in the room I was told they lost my urine sample so I had to give another. I waited in the room for 12 hours. They asked me my blood type and because I’m A - I needed a rhogam shot and the doctor was angry at the doctor from the previous visit because he should have asked me then. They sent me home and asked me to come back Wednesday for another blood test. I went wednesday and they said they had no idea about because yet again they had lost my urine and blood samples so I had to redo them again. So they have now lost my samples two times. So I waited a few hours to get my results. They said everything was fine and sent me home. A few hours after I got home I got a call from the hospital and apparently they found my samples and I had an infection since march 1st. So they put me on antibiotics. The thing about an untreated infection during pregnancy is that it can lead to pre term labour so early march 26th I unfortunately delivered a fetus at 12 weeks. So I went to the emergency room yet again. The treatment was awful they didn’t believe that a fetus came out of me my partner had to confirm it for them to believe it. For those wondering why I went to emergency instead of a prenatal clinic I did go to my prenatal clinic and they said they couldn’t help me until my baby was viable at 12 weeks but I lost my baby at 12 weeks. I made a formal complaint and the only thing the hospital has said to me was that they received my complaint. I met with the prenatal clinic afterwards and they said there was a high chance the untreated infection caused my miscarriage. Anyways if anyone goes to this hospital make sure you physically see your results before you leave because there is a high chance they will be misplaced.
