Introductory Dostoevsky books for juvenile court book club
Hello, sorry for the recommendation post but I am currently running a book club for a juvenile court facility and I am hoping to read a dostoevsky text. So far we have just read the classic sociology text Nacirema and we are currently wrapping up Cannery Row. All the participants are young men aged 18-23. They have expressed their desire for philosophical/psychological books that will help them better understand the world and allow for rich discussion. They do not want books that are meant to remind them of their own incarceration (it is ok if this is included in some way but not the explicit purpose), essentially they are hoping to read things that will prepare them for life beyond their current state. Do you all have any particular recommendations? It can be works from other russian authors too if you believe these texts would better serve them. Thank you!
