Possible to tone hair without contributing to brassiness in the long run?

My hair is looking really brassy and it’s not flattering on me (soft summer color season). The first photo is my hair, and the following photos are more in the realm of what I’d like my hair to look like (the last photo is closest to my natural hair colour).

TLDR: Would using a hair gloss (like Kristin Ess smoky topaz for example) make the brassiness worse in the long run? ie, will my hair be even more orange when it eventually washes out? Or would it return to the what it is now? I’m thinking a gloss could be an option, but don’t want to exacerbate the issue.

In the past, my stylist has dyed it a cooler brown colour to get me closer to the inspo pics. She did a great job, but warned me that the brown dye would eventually fade to an orangey colour (dying over top of bleach), and it did. I was trying to just grow it out and live with the colour for now, but the growth is slow and I don’t think I can deal with the brassiness anymore.

It’s not in budget for me to return to the salon to re-dye it every 6 weeks or so, and I want to avoid damaging my hair as much as possible.

I would really love any recommendations! My stylist is on a longer-term sick leave and I don’t want to bug her.

Thank you!!
