A few months ago I had an incident at a store where I missed scanning one item that was at the bottom of my bag, got stopped by security, and even though I was told I could just pay a fine, police ended up getting involved anyway. They took my details, and a few months later I got a court summons, but by that point I was already in the process of moving out of the country and couldn’t attend the hearing. I sent a letter explaining the situation, but didn’t chase the situation after that (it was in October) now I’m heading back to Vienna and I’m not sure how to handle this or what the current status even is. Does anyone know of a legal advice centre there, ideally free, that could help me figure out next steps?
