Another rant from the unemployed....

I know that most of us are in the same boat and you've all heard the same thing. So I apologize in advance but I gotta let it off or I'm gonna explode.

I've lost count of the applications I've put in. The number of temp agencies I've got applications on file with. The number of job placement agencies I've contacted. And I either get ghosted completely.... some of them can't even be bothered to send an e-mail acknowledging that they have received my application, or I get an e-mail saying that I'm not a good fit for the company because of some stupid twenty question assessment that doesn't tell you anything deep about a person.

But the absolute worst, the ones that make me want to burn the world to the ground are the ones who make you drive an hour one way for a multi-stage interview over multiple days only to reject you with a cookie cutter response that looks like they copied something from the internet. Gas is fluctuating between $4.30 and 4.60 for basic unleaded here. I lost money and time going to this farce just to get told to kick rocks.

Why can't we get some real honest feedback? Tell me why I'm not a good fit. Tell me why you choose someone else over me. God, you know it's bad when you can't even get a job where they literally tell you that zero experience is preferred because it's an apprenticeship program.... only for them to include 'We went with someone with more experience.' Like seriously?

I'm 44, I've got a Class A CDL with ONE accident on my record in the last 10 years and NO ONE in the trucking industry will touch me because of how recent it is. If they even talk to me at all. I was a school bus driver for nearly 3 years, so you know my conflict resolution skills have to be on point. As well as my communication skills....

Sorry, just tired of trying is all. I'm doing Doordash to try and make ends meet, but that's a completely different rant.
