6 days post op
Hi everyone, I’ve been reading your stories for the last few days and honestly I’m just overwhelmed..
I’m a 25F who just got a partial fistulectomy and seton for drainage, my doctors (though helpful) are not there every time I freak out so I just need to understand if some of these things that are happening are normal or if I should seek help (mind you a have a check up that was moved up to Wednesday).
First of all, the smell… is it normal that it smells so bad? I’ve been having some heavy discharge and it smells horrible… idk if I’m just not used to it or what.
Second of all it’s not the seton per se that bothers me it’s the open wound, I can’t bring myself to look at it without crying, or having a mini crisis, I can’t really clean inside of it very well (I clean it like 6/8 times a day and disinfect it 2/3 times a day the best I can).
Worst of all I’m worried somethings wrong, I woke up today and I think the seton itself detached from the anus, I see a knot that’s blocking it from going in but also am not sure if it was there before. I can’t really look at it because of the position + it really hurts if I try to separate my cheeks. I tried calling the clinic but since it’s a national holiday the doctors weren’t there to answer my questions today…
I’m just worried that the more I wait (even just 2 days) the more something bad is happening… I’m away from my family, alone and honestly scared. I’m trying to be patient until the visit, trying to distract myself but it’s hard… if anyone has any suggestion it’s appreciated. Thank you for listening.
