Car repossessed, loan reinstated, vehicle now “in transit” but nobody can confirm its location—auction says they never received it

Hi all, I’m looking for legal guidance on a repossession/transport situation that has become unclear and I’m getting conflicting information from the lender.

My situation:
My vehicle was repossessed in Utah
I reinstated the loan and paid what was required to get it back
The lender (Nissan) told me the vehicle was being transported to an auction in Denver
Expected delivery was Friday the 8th

However:
I contacted the auction house directly and they confirmed they do NOT have the vehicle
Nissan now says the vehicle is “in transit” and that it may not arrive until the 15th
They are refusing to provide the transport company name, tracking information, or bill of lading
They also said they cannot contact the transport company directly
I have no confirmed physical location of the vehicle at this time, only that it was supposedly picked up for transport
I’m currently being told to “wait,” but there is no verifiable tracking or custody confirmation being provided.
My questions:

At what point does this become a legal issue vs. a civil repossession/transport delay?

Do I have any right to demand the carrier information or bill of lading?

If the vehicle cannot be located, what is the proper legal escalation process?

Should I be filing anything formal (police report, attorney demand letter, consumer complaint)?

I have documentation of loan reinstatement and can provide timeline details if needed.
