Hello there, everyone! Hope you're all doing well.
I felt forced to repost this after the "Cryston" typo (that made me want to die inside, and it was way too late when I noticed it 😭), so that might be the reason you're seeing it again. Also took the opportunity to add and elaborate on a few more points.
Anyways, even though I haven't watched it yet, I was really curious about the ***'Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair'***s awards season situation, and I hope you'll all dive into it with me in this post.
Yes, no, maybe? You don't know?
First of all: as stated by Variety last month, it seems the series was indeed deemed eligible in Comedy categories, despite its shortened season. But I don't think that's going to work... I'm not sure the series would do really well in the main Comedy categories, but it is what it is, right? I think the series comes at a disadvantage when compared to other contenders due to the shortened season-thing. It's more of a "we would like to see more" than "we're gonna nominate you guys due to nostalgia." What do you think?
Second: could Kaczmarek and Cranston get some actual traction in the acting categories? The series might not be the strongest due to length and other factors, but both of them are Emmy darlings, and you can't deny that (Kaczmarek being a seven-time nominee and Cranston being a four-time winner). Could they get into something? And if they COULD, would they get into leading or supporting categories?
And last, but not least: what are the general odds of the series? Could it get a lone writing nomination as a "tribute," and would that be a great victory, or would it just end up empty-handed on nominations morning? Could a possible nostalgia factor boost its chances?
And that's all! Share your thoughts, comments and possible questions below.
