Wanting Back Surgery with my own Surgeon using Private Insurance in TX

So I am on WC in Texas for herniating a disc in my upper back. I've been through PT, which makes it worse. There is a lot more to the recovery story, but in short, I have a specific surgeon I want to use, but he does not take workers' comp. I want to use my own insurance, because this surgery in this particular area of the spine is very dangerous, and I want the best. He doesn't accept out-of-pocket payment either, so I need access to my insurance. How can I go about doing this? I don't think I can just drop the workers' comp case, but I'm pretty sure my private insurance will still consider this a work-related case. Should I try to get WC to deny the surgery so I can use my private insurance?
