So I'm posting this on here, because apparently the yellowjackets sub blocks ANY kind of critisism towards the show.

I'm gonna start off by saying that I really enjoyed the first nine episodes of the show. I thought they set up some cool plot lines for later on, but unfortunately they weren't able to resolve them well. A big issue I have with this show is that the resolutions are usually extremely underwhelming, and a lot of storylines feel underutilized. Besides, they drag out SOOO many of them. The entirety of season 2 could have been a postcard. It was basically a slow burn with little to no payoff, so it ended up feeling like a waste of time.

The biggest positive for me was the characters, which are probably the only reason I finished watching the show. The characters feel very fleshed out and distinct, which I really liked.

I feel like the whole concept of yellowjackets was extremely underutilized. On paper it sounds amazing, but the execution is lacking a lot of the time. In my opinion, they should have just committed to the girls going insane in a brutal, cannibalistic way, but hey, maybe that's just me. It often feels like they play it VERY safe. Sure, by the end of season 3 they did lean more into that, but they could have gone even further.

Besides, A LOT of the twists felt very poorly written. If they wanted to go full craziness, inconsistency, and mindfuckery, the plot holes would feel more intentional and less noticeable. But instead, the show just lightly plays around with those ideas, and in the end it comes off unfinished and underwhelming.

Also, I love surrealism, but a lot of the time, especially in season 2, it felt like they just threw it in to make the show more artsy and quirky, but it didn't add anything in a significant way. It felt very surface level and obvious, but again, maybe that's just me.

It could have also been so good if they played around with the idea that "the way someone remembers things isn't necessarily the way they happened." To me, it seems like the flashbacks were presented as objective truth. That's why a lot of the inconsistencies come across as poor writing. But if the flashbacks were shown from each of the girls' povs, it would have justified A LOT of those inconsistencies.

Anyway, this is just MY opinion, ok? The show had so much potential, and it's a shame they kinda messed it up. It's not awful, but it could have been so much better.
