I've decided to get a premium guitar and I've narrowed it down to the Pacifica and FGN neo classic which I can get for pretty much the same price. The songs that I enjoy playing are blues, funk, neo soul and indie. As for gear, I have a Blackstar HT-5 and a pedalboard which includes OD, distortion, fuzz, an EQ pedal and chorus/reverb. There's a lot of review videos on the Pacifica but very little on the specific model of FGN guitar I'm looking at.
Pros for the Pacifica: the neck - I have a revstar which I really like the feel of the neck (are they similar?), stainless steel frets (though I get that it would take me probably decades before I wear down nickel frets, tone - from what I understand the pickups aren't the most traditional compared to a strat but they sound good on Youtube's compressed audio and would be more "versatile".
The FGN guitar comes with SD SSH pickups, have nickel hardware but is otherwise very similar with the Pacifica with Gotoh locking tuners and a 2 point Gotoh bridge. It is not possible for me to try them before buying because I have to get it shipped from another state (I live in Australia). I have a gig coming up in Malaysia at a friend's cafe and I could get an FGN there for tiny bit cheaper than the Pacifica. The Pacifica in Malaysia for whatever reason is not in stock and also an extra 1k AUD more expensive than getting it here.
Anyone have any experience with the FGN model I'm looking at or FGN guitars in general who can speak about the build quality?
