13 to 7

Looking for insight. Spouse hasn’t worked since early spring of 2025, we have been trying to file disability and finances have been tight going from 2 incomes to 1. Previously we were in chapter 13, recently converted to 7 and had our 341 meeting for the conversion which my lawyer said after the 7 we will be done and owe no more. Looking for any relief as I don’t believe spouse will work due to disability , we’ve been denied a few times so we are appealing because we do believe we have a case. If 7 is granted& discharged and we are eventually granted disability , would we have to hand it over after discharge? Are we better off just dropping the appeals for the disability denials? Courts are aware of the situation, in Indiana if that helps .

Edit to add- we previously filed a hardship discharge and the 13 trustee challenged it and kept continuing the case until they finally reviewed it, then didn’t contest it , and at that hearing with no objections from our attorney or trustee , the judge wanted to see us in person- lawyer didn’t want to do that (we would have done so) so we filed 7 to just be done.
