Advice needed 🙏🏽
I’m facing a difficult career/life decision and would appreciate some outside perspective🙏🏽
I have a concrete job offer in a smaller city. I already accepted verbally, but I haven’t signed the contract yet. The job itself could be useful for my career because it would give me structure, stability, and a chance to build more practical experience after a difficult job search.
The problem is that I’m really struggling with the idea of moving. I currently live in a larger city and only now, when I might have to leave, I realize how much I value the lifestyle, freedom, people, and general opportunities here. The new job would require me to be in the office most of the week, and the location is not very convenient without a car. The company also doesn’t seem to offer much beyond the base salary.
Part of me thinks I should take the concrete offer, accept that it may not be perfect, and use it as a step forward. Another part of me feels strong resistance and wonders whether I’m making a mistake by leaving a place where I actually enjoy life, especially since I still have some financial runway and could keep applying.
I don’t have another concrete offer right now, only the hope that something better might come. That’s what makes the decision so hard.
Would you take the imperfect but concrete opportunity, or stay where you are and keep searching?
