Help choosing a college major

I am going to college in the fall, and have already scheduled my first semester with Psychology as my major. However, I’m having second thoughts.

Psychology will require a lot of essays, which really stress me out already, and I just really really don’t want to do a lot of essays. I have no problem with other writing assignments, but essays are a problem for me. I already took all my college English courses in Dual Enrollment and was hoping to be finished with essays.

Marketing is another major that I have in mind, or rather a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. This will require far less essays than psychology and much more creativity. Marketing was one of my top skills when I took the ASVAB test this past year.

Job opportunities:

I live in a small town where I could more than likely find more jobs in the marketing business than in psychology. I am not willing to work outside of my town. I live only 25 minutes away from the Amerisafe central office, where marketing positions are available, and that’s already a company I was thinking of working for.

With psychology, there is a wide array of job opportunities, but I don’t think there are many opportunities for that in my little town. And the jobs I wanted to get with that degree, I recently realized I won’t be able to get without more than a bachelors degree, and I’m not willing to get more than a bachelors degree.

And a question: will a degree in marketing require a lot of computer skills? (Or learning computer skills). I did take IBCA a few years ago and it wasn’t my favorite, but probably less stressful than a bunch of essays.

I most certainly am going to talk to my college advisor and probably others too, but I just wanted to see if anyone had any advice here. Thanks in advance.

Edit: my mom recently suggested I could possibly buy into a franchise later on and open one in my town. And marketing would certainly help with that.
