Working on an 18th century bodice. I have the sleeves that I’m attaching now. The underarm is attached right sides together and back stitched in place. The top will be attached under the shoulder strap. The thing that’s getting me befuddled is the transition bit between the back stitched underarm and the rest which would be top stitched under the shoulder strap. It’s not a smooth transition. Is it just fiddly and I should keep playing with it? Sewing all by hand, no machine. And no pattern to follow for construction. The American Duchess book doesn’t address this particular issue I’m running into. Any ideas?
