Hi everyone,

I graduated with my B.Tech in ECE in July 2025. I just got shortlisted for the physical interview at IIT Jodhpur for M.Tech in Microwave and Photonic Technologies

I have a few critical questions for alumni or current students:

  1. Placement Reality: What is the actual ground truth for placements in this specific branch at IIT J? What is a realistic starting salary range for core roles (RF/Optics)?
  2. The ROI: Given the high fees for a self-sponsored seat (~₹45k/sem) and zero GATE stipend, is the "IIT tag" worth the financial hit for this specific niche?
  3. Domain Pivot: Since my brain is wired for Verilog, digital logic, and DSP, how brutal will a two-year dive into pure analog, EMT, and optics be? Do companies allow students from this branch to sit for IT/software or digital hardware roles?

Hey everyone,

I just got an email that I’ve been provisionally shortlisted for the M.Tech admission interview at IIIT Delhi, scheduled for May 7th. I'm really excited but honestly a bit nervous since I want to make sure I prep the right way over the next few days.

For some context: I graduated with my B.Tech in ECE in July 2025. I've been brushing up on my core subjects—specifically VLSI Design, Digital Signal Processing (DSP), Network Theory, and Control Systems.

For anyone who has been through the IIIT-D M.Tech interview process (or similar institutes), I’d love your insights:

  1. Depth of Technical Questions: Do they focus more on foundational basics, or will they ask me to solve complex circuit/math problems live?
  2. Panel Expectations: Are they mostly looking for correct answers, or do they care more about the approach and thought process?
  3. Projects/B.Tech background: How much of the interview usually revolves around B.Tech major projects versus core theoretical subjects?
  4. Any specific topics or areas I should absolutely not miss revising?

Any tips, past experiences, or advice on how to handle the pressure would be massively appreciated. Thanks in advance!
