What to do when starting to travel as a person from a non travelling family...?
So:... I just turned 18 and my grandma gave me some money to travel which is amazing but also kinda overwhelming.
I’m, from a pretty boring town, and I’ve barely been outside the US, just Mexico once with family and a quick trip to Canada. Lately I keep finding myself looking at Europe, especially Italy because I love art and history and just the idea of wandering around old cities and sitting in random cafes all day. I’ve also been looking at places like Amsterdam or Copenhagen since they seem easier and pretty safe for a first trip
The problem is my family is kind of narrow minded about Europe and mostly just warns me about everything, so I don’t feel like I’m getting real advice from them
If you started traveling young or solo, how did you actually do it the first time? Any tips or first destinations you’d recommend would seriously help...
