I started watching what I guess is day 2 of the hearing at 9:30 last night it’s now 5:00 am. We were a Mystic family. I’ve never seen an institution…and really not just the camp but disaster response and emergency coordination…taken down to the absolute studs and shown to be so rotten and failed in such a methodical way as what this testimony is doing.
And it is incredibly strong women…many of whom were themselves proud campers that are doing the heavy lifting here. From the surgeon mother of a survivor taking apart the failed medical response to the mother who has started this camp safety non-profit demanding (and apparently now gonna get…) help from the State to the mothers of four of the lost girls who are not letting any bullshit stand anymore.
I know people who planned to send their daughters back this year. Personally, after watching this I see no “both sides” here and can not imagine this camp opening again. Gonna have to figure out a different path for your daughter to have her pick of Texas sorority that does not involve 9 years of Mystic.
And this is maybe rant but do the Eastlands have the shittiest lawyers in Texas? How could they possibly think they can do anything but make their personal exposure WORSE saying what they are saying?
