Hi Redditors,

I recently had a minor accident with my car, which is registered in my wife’s name. I purchased the insurance through PolicyBazaar. When I initiated the claim, PolicyBazaar informed me that the previous year's policy was under my name, while the current year's policy is under my wife’s name — even though the vehicle ownership has never changed.

Because of this mismatch, PolicyBazaar is refusing to process the claim.

My questions are:

Whose responsibility is it to verify the policyholder’s name before issuing a policy?

Am I allowed to take a policy in anyone’s name, or does it strictly need to match the RC owner?

Right now, it feels like the policy is useless. Even if I reapply for a claim in future for somw other issue., the same issue will come up, and the money I paid for the policy goes to waste.

Please guide me on what I can do in this situation.

Policy bazaar is not responding correctly. They just start calling me from all directions when I want to buy policy to visit their site or given a miscall to their helpline.
