Hi there. I'm an American living in Tokyo and I have a foreign driver's license conversion appointment (外免切替 / gaimen kirikae) at the Koto Driver's License Center (江東運転免許試験場) in mid June.

I'm looking for a bilingual English/Japanese speaker to accompany me and help interpret during the appointment. Here are the details:

• Location: Koto Driver's License Center, 江東区新砂1-7-24 (nearest station: Tatsumi)
• Duration: Approximately 2-3 hours
• What's needed: Interpretation during document screening and a short interview with government staff

I hold a Virginia license which is in the exempt 29-country group, so there are no written or driving tests — just document review, a brief interview, and an eye test. That said the interview involves questions about my driving history so clear communication is really important.

Curious if anyone has services they would recommend or works in this field.
