I wanna learn how to write marching snare and tenors solos/music in general

So I'm brand new at this. I've been learning snare since December of last year, and I just made drumline marching tenors this marching season. I want to learn how to write solos, how to know what would sound good and what wouldn't. Maybe it's just self-explanatory and I'm overthinking it, I just don't know where to begin with it. I also wanted to write like covers or things that can be played along with songs, like a tenors cover of upbeat songs I like. That kind of thing. Anyone know how I can start learning how and get better over time?

Edit: I'm a high school junior (grad year 2027) currently and joined band mid marching season to be on tech and join percussion. This is my first (and most likely last) year marching, but I want to learn how to write music for battery to play myself, and I'm looking to have some sort of career in music in general, specifically percussion focused.
