Tanked BIE L5 Screen (seeking mentors)
I got the opportunity to interview Amazon BIE2 role based in the US. After the interview I felt it went pretty well but I got an email that I am not going forward in the process.
I can only speculate what could’ve gone wrong but a few things I can pinpoint -
Dive Deep story not as convincing -
I prepared an a story involving some data issue I discovered plaguing the report that is used by planners to position inventory which required multiple levels of debugging and fixing. (5-6 minutes long). The interviewer had a lot of follow ups for me and at the end he didn’t seem convinced about the actual root cause which was related to data. His follow ups made it clearData Viz question - I missed asking follow ups and straight away went into solving for the issues in the data viz. Covered almost all but one issue
SQL - 2 questions (easy-medium) I was drained by the end of the interview so had to take directions but did execute the solution.
Apart from this I think my LP ran long, I could have been more concise.
I am seeking feedback and mentorship from Current BIEs on how to write the stories and any other areas of focus. I might have another interview for some other role soon and need to work my gaps and blind spots.
