HR recruiter reached out on LinkedIn (someone who does hiring for the company, not an agency). Said I was a great fit, would love to chat, etc.

I looked at the role & it's somewhat outside my scope (it was in finance, all my experience is in the public sector), but I thought if the HR recruiter reached out, maybe they saw something I didn't.

So I tailored my resume, wrote a nice cover letter, and applied. I didn't hear anything for three weeks and then get an email saying I wasn't the right fit for the role.

Like - I could have told you that three weeks ago... why even have me apply?
