Civilian Engineer to NG GB

I am a mechanical engineer (25) and am interested in pursuing SF via the National Guard. I am fairly active and train roughly 1-2 hours a day, but have not started SF specific training yet (specifically my run times are less than ideal 2mi-13:40 and 5mi-38:45). I am currently working on a plan to improve these and see if I can achieve my goals prior to attending SFRE.

I am creating this post to ask for advice/experiences from people who have gone from professional careers to NG Special Forces.

I know the training pipeline for 18x is probably 2.5-3 years active duty. I am assuming I will have to quit my job temporarily for this. Has anyone had a hard time re-integrating into civilian careers post SFQC? Were you able to maintain a demanding career like engineering (45-60hr/week) while serving as a 18-series in the NG?

If anyone has input or experiences to share, I would love to hear them.
