Realtek audio not detected on Linux - BIOSTAR H310MHC2
Hey everyone, I've been struggling with getting my onboard Realtek audio to work on Linux and I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.
I have a BIOSTAR H310MHC2 motherboard with integrated Realtek audio. The audio works perfectly fine on Windows with no issues at all. But on Linux, the Realtek chip just isn't being detected by the system at all.
Here's what I've already checked:
- Audio is enabled in BIOS
- Works normally on Windows
- ALSA drivers are installed
- PipeWire is properly configured
- Ran aplay -l and only see NVIDIA HDMI and USB Audio Device
- Checked /proc/asound/cards and same result - no Realtek anywhere
- Tried different codec models with modprobe snd_hda_intel but nothing worked
The only audio outputs I can see are:
- Card 0: HDA NVIDIA (HDMI)
- Card 1: USB Audio Device
I'm stuck because the hardware clearly supports audio in Windows, so it's definitely a driver or kernel recognition issue.
Has anyone dealt with this specific motherboard on Linux? Is there maybe a BIOS setting I'm missing or a custom driver that could help? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
