Getting laid off soon, worth getting stamping?

I know my layoff is coming in about 6 weeks.

I did H1B COS in 2025 but have never had a visa stamp. I talked to an external lawyer and they say it might be worth it for me to try to get the stamping if I can.

I’m not quite clear on the exact benefit of having stamp vs not since nobody here has mentioned it l but the lawyer said it may help in the future if I get an offer after my grace period.

I’m able to book an H1B slot in my home country for next week so I’m thinking of arranging a quick trip to get the stamping. It feels risky for many reasons.

Wonder if anyone has encountered a moment where stamping makes a difference??

- I’m still technically employed and can provide employment letter
- I did have a 10-year B2 visa before I did F1 and H1B. My original B2 should expire in 2029. In case my H1B stamping fails, can I still re enter US with my old B2 to clean up and move my stuff home?
