I filed my AOS 3 weeks ago, but a medical family emergency came up and I need to travel, did any one travel before on H1B with pending AOS, were there any complications?

My lawyer is concerned that if my AOS got approved while I am outside the country that it will complicate the situation, also they are concerned about missing biometrics/interviews but I will continue to monitor my online account and my spouse will monitor our mailbox physically and travel back immediately once it gets scheduled.

I understand that there are always risks with traveling, but Is the lawyer overly conservative or are these highly risky situations?
