Wedding gift idea for parent
hello and thanks in advance for reading
my parents have been divorced most of my life and I don’t have a relationship with my dad. with my wedding coming up, my mom and stepdad have been amazing and my stepdad has stepped up (lol) and is spending thousands of dollars on my wedding to help since I got laid off from my job. I am not super close to my mom but she is helping, too. I’m not the best gift giver but I want to give him / them something to show my gratitude and say thank you for everything they have done to help for my wedding
also, to add a layer, my stepdad was recently was diagnosed with a stage 3 terminal lung cancer. my entire family is in shambles over it and the wedding is a moment for us to make a lifelong memory with him. it’s going to be a really special day. also the main point of my post is to ask for a gift idea - and I can’t get him a fancy whiskey or cigars or any “typical” wedding gift like that since it would be bad for his health.
I was wondering what other people have given their parents as gifts for saying thank you before/after the wedding. (maybe day of? idk?) obviously framed photos of us together from the big day afterwards, but that doesn’t feel like it’s special or big enough of a thank you.
i am getting my fiance custom engraved cufflinks (per my stepdad’s advice) so i cant also get him a pair of cufflinks because he wouldn’t be surprised (or really wear them again tbh)
is this making sense? sorry y'all this is my first reddit post. would love any thoughts and ideas. thanks so much!!!
