Cars a write off due to bad mechanic

Cars a write off due to bad mechanic

Does anyone know if SGI will write off my vehicle if a mechanic said it was in good condition but it actually wasn't? I took my car to Prairie Services in Martensville more times than I can count in the last 8 months. I went there because my ex husband is friends with the owner, and my ex offered to pay to fix everything. Worst decision ever. Today my CV joint pulled right out of the drive as I was heading to a different mechanic to get this looked at. Tire was dangling out from under the hood and it was dragging the undercarriage on the road.

Im wondering if SGI would write this off/make a claim or if I should just take it to a junk yard. Especially being that this car was at Prairie Service more times than I can count and they kept saying it's fine and good to go. Its gonna cost more to fix than the car is worth.

Women leaving domestic abuse

Earlier this month I had my husband charged with domestic violence. I spent months gathering sufficient evidence of this towards my kids and myself, because I know thats what you need for charges to be laid. After everything was said and done, SPS only laid 3 charges on him for assaulting and threatning me but no charges in regards to my kids, despite the kids verbally telling police what they endured. Voice recordings of him addmitting to abuse and pictures were not considered sufficient evidence. Even a video of him threatning to kill us all was not put into consideration at all!

We were promised gas cards and grocery cards when we were to leave, but then later told that we get nothing. The food bank only gives a few days worth of food.

This relationship was finically abusive as well, so now we are struggling immensely. We were not able to stay in a shelter because I had already paid for a new place to go and I didnt want the kids in the city where he could easily find them. The shelter also told me they can not provide or guide me with child care to finish the last week of school that I had left. I ended up taking my kids to school with me and my teacher had his family care for my kids so I could pass, which I successfully did.

Now that we've moved and all is said and done, my ex husband has breached his conditions and no charges were laid for that. Its been over a week and no police officer has even been assigned to that file.

I just wanted to put this out there for women leaving abusive relationships, that you will have no help. You will be promised resources you wont get. The police wont help you and family services wont help you. We have 2 cats and weren't able to rehome them because the SPCA wants money to do that, which we didnt have extra to spare. The only thing offered to us which came through was counciling, which is useless when the abuse continues and the finacial burden has prevented me from leaving work to participate in counseling.

We've moved out of province for our safety and now barely getting by. We have no family or friends to help us financially because we were isolated for years. The system meant to support us has done nothing but given us false hope. My kids are still young and Im having to explain to them why the police are gaslighting them and their claims. They no longer trust police from this experience and its heart breaking listening to them cry, and asking me why no one believes them when they told the truth. They understand everything going on and are asking me brutal questions about it all.

Saskatoon Police service and womans shelters need to do better and be more realistic. Even just offering a trailer to help us move would have saved me a thousand dollars. We utilized the Havens House for child care a couple times but they dont allow full time service. If my teacher wasnt able to help us I would have been out thousands of dollars for schooling and a good stable job. I am currently employed now but my vehicles have broken down so im unable to go to work because I used all my money for the move and groceries.

If your planning on leaving a abusive partner, be prepared to be gaslit by police, lied to by family services, and have nothing for months. My childs birthday is tomorrow and I cant even get a cake, let alone a candle to put on a piece of toast. Im grateful to still have my kids and cats but with my ex still being on the loose its been a nightmare wondering when we will be hurt again.
