Hey everyone,
I recently started streaming as a hobby and I’m still trying to figure out how people actually grow on Twitch in 2026.
I mainly play big AAA releases and some Nintendo games, right now I’m spending a lot of time on Pokémon Champions, and I also like revisiting newer AAA titles with max settings just to enjoy the visuals and gameplay properly. I’ve got a pretty strong PC setup, so performance isn’t really an issue, and I like pushing games to their limits when I can (especially stuff like Resident Evil and other cinematic games).
Right now though, I’m kind of stuck at the “only friends stop by” stage, and I’m trying to understand what actually makes the difference for small streamers. I don’t expect instant growth or anything like that, I’m more trying to learn what actually works versus what just feels like it should work.
Some things I’m curious about:
- What helped you go from 0–5 viewers to consistent viewers?
- How important is things like camera setup / lighting early on?
- Do people discover you more through Twitch itself or outside platforms?
- Is focusing on a few games better than variety when starting out?
I feel like I have the gameplay side covered, but I’m not sure if I’m missing something on the “discoverability + presentation” side.
Would really appreciate any honest advice from people who’ve been through this stage.
If anyone wants to check what I’m doing, I’m streaming occasionally while I figure things out, but mainly I’m here to learn and improve first.
