Can I become a roller coaster engineer with a civil degree, or do I need a mechanical degree.

I’ve always dreamed that it would be insanely cool to design roller coasters, specifically the track layouts. I do understand that through these next years of university I will absolutely realize I have other interests as well so this is not definitively my endgame, but it would be a nice one.

I’m just concerned that if I enter civil engineering I won’t be able to design the track layout which I just think would be the most fascinating part of the entire design itself. And while I believe designing supports would be super fun, I’d also like to play a role in the creative aspect… And the reason I don’t think I could do so is because mechanical engineer is the one who calculates all the forces and acceleration of the cart on the track.

I’m concerned getting a civil engineering degree will limit me to this particular part of the field. What do you guys think?

(This needs to reach engineers who’ve already graduated and/or know others who have as well, plz don’t take down)
