I’m hooked!
A couple months ago I posted before my first camping trip, and now I’ve just finished my third! I’ve had a blast and can’t wait til my next trip (once the weather’s cooled down a bit).
A few things I’ve learned:
I thought the hardest part would be falling asleep, but it’s actually getting out of ‘bed’! Especially when it’s cold.
Everything is damp.
Elevation matters! I was freezing in my first trip because I’d looked at a forecast for a town 3k feet lower and 20 degrees warmer. It also took ages to boil water.
I need cell service or wifi. I didn’t have either in my last trip and couldn’t feel 100% relaxed. I know some people like to unplug, but I need a way to check in with my family.
Bring a speaker! When I’m alone, I find it soothing to bring a speaker to play happy music. (I also keep the volume low and make sure it can’t be heard past my campsite.)
