I have been in the EMS whether it was cadet program at 14 or EMT now at 19. I saw my first dead body at 14 working an arrest and I have never been bothered by the sight of blood. I even have did a lab where ive touched organs. A few weeks ago I was picking up a patient from the hospital and they had a chest tube in. I wasn't thinking about nothing I had a long night I didn't get nervous or nothing. Halfway into moving the patient over I started thinking about the blood in a way I never have before (there was a big blood stain on the sheet from when the chest tube was implanted.) I started spiraling thinking about it and almost passed out. I joked about it afterwards and didnt think much of it. Well now I get worried when I see blood again. I had another incident where I was able to go to the bathroom and calm myself down for about 5-6 minutes before coming back into the room and dealing with it. My partner had a horrible nose bleed the other day and it didn't effect me at all. Both times it effected me it has been a stain on the sheets. Is there any advise any of you can give me. I wanna get into paramedic class but im afraid this will cause issues.
